The AFSC 2014 delegation to the Middle East – A reflection on the complexities of life in this region. Join Katie Huerter, a former AFSC colleague in the Midwest, and Toni Etheridge, a former AFSC Southeast staffer, as we discuss a pivotal time in our lives.

About Katie Huerter:

Ø  Katie lives in Omaha, Nebraska; the pride and joy of her life is raising her 17-year-old high schooler senior.

Ø  Katie is an International and Public Policy Strategist Consultant in Omaha, NE.

Ø  Katie has worked for over 13 years on Israel-Palestine peace-building efforts across the US, and on the ground in Israel and throughout the West Bank.

Ø  Katie has served as the Peace Building Program Associate for AFSC’s Middle East Program.

Ø  Katie has served on the Board of Directors for Eyewitness Palestine.

Ø  Currently Katie serves on the Nebraska for Peace Palestinian Rights Task Force, and also, on the National Students for Justice in Palestine Advising Counsel.

About Toni Etheridge:

Ø  Background: Toni Etheridge brings 15 years of experience as an activist, organizer, and justice peace builder. 

Toni has effectively applied these skills to social justice projects spanning from the northeast to the southeast of the country. 

Toni is the proud mother of two adult male sons.

Ø  Community Involvement:

o    Toni served as a member of the Community-City Working Group and NC Peace Action.

o    Toni led the Peace and Economic Justice program for the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) in North Carolina for three years.

o    Toni served as an AFSC delegate to the Middle East and while there focused on peace and conflict resolution.

Ø  Academic Credentials:

o    Toni holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Guilford College, where she studied sociology and psychology in 2013.

o    Toni pursued Social Justice and Community Organizing and earned a Master of Arts degree at Prescott College in 2019.

o    Toni studied Organizational Leadership at Columbia International University (CIU) and was conferred in August 2023 as Dr. Toni Etheridge.
