From Lori:
Greetings, Friends,
During the hybrid Second Hour Sunday, May 25, Edwina Winter of Columbia Resilience will teach us a simple way to nurture ourselves during times of stress.
Like yoga, massage, tai chi, and acupuncture, a technique called tapping intervenes in the mind-body connection to redirect our energy towards wellness. Using one’s fingers to tap on different pressure points on one’s face and body can guide oneself into a less fearful, inflamed, and reactive mind-body state. According to a post on WebMD, “Tapping draws on the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture, which teaches that the body’s energy travels along specific pathways…EFT tapping stimulates acupoints by touch rather than by the use of needles, making it a type of acupressure technique.” It can be used daily alongside other nurturing and wellness practices, such as prayer, meditation, community events, and healthy eating, and as well as during moments of extreme distress.
Columbia Resilience is a non-profit organization that offers a monthly Saturday Trauma/Healing Clinic at The Episcopal Church of St. Simon & St. Jude (1110 Kinley Rd, Irmo SC 29063 (Just off I-26 at exit 102B)). It also supports the Community Orchard at Owens Field in Rosewood Neighborhood. Both projects are part of Columbia Resilience’s aim to increase community health and sustainability.
See you at Second Hour!
