As many of you know, some of us in Friends Meeting along with others in South Carolina are active in the first Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) South Carolina Advocacy Team. The focus this year is on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. FCNL is asking that we withdraw military support for the conflict in Yemen. Following is the exact wording from FCNL regarding the ask for February:
In February, we are urging our legislators to introduce and support a Yemen War Powers Resolution. Congress must end all forms of U.S. support immediately, including maintenance, logistical support, and intelligence-sharing.
The SC FCNL Advocacy Team is planning a visit with Senator Graham’s office on February 11th. If you want to participate, please notify Grace Gifford from Horry Friends Meeting or Priscilla Preston from Columbia Friends Meeting or email 120pisgah@gmail.com or call 803 780-4197.

Action Sheet: February 2022
We seek a world free of war and the threat of war
The war in Yemen is escalating. In January, the Houthis intensified attacks on the United Arab
Emirates, which has been part of the Saudi-led coalition fighting the war in Yemen. The Saudi
government has continued its devastating strikes across Yemen, blacking out internet access for
four days and, in one strike in mid-January, killing at least 80 people.
